Workforce Advocacy for Youth (WAY) proudly serves students and graduates at
twelve Metropolitan Akron-area high schools in Summit and Medina Counties. We are a non-profit organization operating the Jobs for Ohio's Graduates (JOG) program. JOG is an affiliate of Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG).
Our mission is to assist youth in making a successful transition from the educational system to the world of work. To accomplish this, WAY employs the JAG model of services. This model includes four facets:
- Identifying high school students who are selected using qualifying criteria.
- Preparing and Motivating the students to acquire life survival skills and to develop a sense of self-worth. Providing stimulation for success through involvement in the Ohio Career Association.
- Placing the student in appropriate employment upon graduation.
- Following up with 12 months of career counseling to ensure job retention and a successful transition into the community.
